Green Hairy Finger Leather * help needed

Ok i have this coral and it did fairly well for the first couple weeks, then it started not opening as much, i thought it was getting to much flow and moved to the sand bed..

Now it doesnt polyp up/open up at all and looks to have black stuff growing on its lims....

What is this stuff and what can i do to help it?

Make sure you are running carbon. I hear they release toxins into the water. I have a huge devils hand in my 55g and it does very well under 130w 50/50 pcs maybe your light is too strong? Check your levels. Mine isnt in very strong current. It seems to get irritated and doesnt expand fully when its in direct flow. Every month or two it shrinks up for a couple days and "sheds". I dont really know what its doing but it freaked me out the first time it did it. They do retract their polyps when touched. My ******* hippo always swims into it when feeding and all of the polyps retract for 15 minutes or so. Make sure one of your fish isnt bothering it. Overall ive found it to be a very hardy coral. I hope some of this info helps you out. What do you mean by black stuff?

dude that devils hand is kick ***!

I came home from work today and it seems to be alittle larger, and it looks like it is shedding off the black tips that were starting to grow.. hopefully it makes a full recovery and is some day the size of your devil hand holly molly!
