Can anyone lend a hand?
I bought some of these beautiful mussels several years ago but they died of starvation. Now that I have a filter feeding tank that is well fed, I am thinking about buys some and give them another go.

It took me a while to find this article about these things and it is a mixed bag.
Has anyone had any success with these things? The picture above shows them right next to a dendro. You will also see that one is already dead. They seem to be able to be tolerant of the temperatures but need quite a bit of the same foods that I am now putting in my tank. They only live for about 2 to 3 years so if you get mature specimens, they are already somewhat old and close to the grave. It will be hard to tell if they are feeding adequately or not.
I would also like to know where I can buy them. In some places, they are a nuisance and in others they are local sea food. They grow in the Gulf so you might be able to get them at sea food prices plus shipping. I tried to order them as food from a couple of local sea food distributors but this town may not be big enough to have access to them.
