I have had a Pavona coral in my tank for about 3 months now.... It was purchased from thr retail store in Rhinelander. The green version of :

It is starting to fade in color to almost white, which makes me think it might be dying. I am not sure what suddenly caused it to do this, but I have not changed anything recently...I have T5 lighting and the current is per the parameters that the site recommends. All other parameters are right on in the reef tank. Is the T5 lighting too strong? Should I place him in some shade, or deep at the bottom of my 75g reef? Any info will help, I really want to save this coral if I can! Thanks!

Pike614,

Thank you for your inquiry. Pavona Corals are normally found at a depth of approximately 80-100ft in nature. To help your coral improve, we recommend placing it towards the bottom of your aquarium. Under T-5 lighting, we suggest keeping the coral at ½ shade under a piece of rock to keep it from being exposed to too much light. As it gets used to the dimmer lighting conditions, the Pavona should begin to recover over time.

OKay, thank you for the suggestion, I did move it to some shade. I bought one of the orange forms at the same time and it is doing very well under the shade of a birdsnest colony...so hopefully the green frag comes back! Thanks!
