Dear Reef Fellows

I need some help - i been running my 140 g tank for 4 month - today my green plate that was introduce 2 weeks ago start to loose tissue . It is place in the sustrate beetween some hangs so half is partially shadow --- the sustrate is 27 inch from the light which is a VEGA BLUE running at 85% -- there is middleflow to high flow but not direct from the powerhead - i got a frogspawn a 4 inches away from it and is doing fine - the parameters in the water are fine close too zero ammonia nitrate nitrite salinity was a bit high 1.027 and calcium due to salinity was 600 ppm , but i did some water change on the weekend to level down and mg is 1200 ----- i have only seen some cleanner shripms walk over the plates , stealing a little food bot i dont think food is a problem either. .. What do you think a problem can be
Thanks, i appreciate it

The Frogspawn might have stung it. 4" is too close IMO. Mine stings other corals from further away than that. I would feed the plate coral.

I recently had a peppermint shrimp tear more flesh than that from my orange plate coral. I put the plate coral in a clear shallow glass dish in the lowest light and lowest flow area of my tank. This way I could pull the dish outta the tank and the plate coral would still be submerged in water. Once out of the tank i i hand fed the plate a few brine shrimp and once it was finished eating, I returned it in its dish to the tank. I did this every day for two weeks. At the end of the two weeks the plate had regained all of its flesh and was about 80% healthy. I took him out of the dish and placed him on the substrate in the same spot and hes been happy and healthy since. Good luck
