Green Star Polyp Question??

I have a GSP for over a year now, when I got it , it was full and healthy. Shortly after that I want through a hair algae problem and it seemed to suffocate the coral. Since that I only have 3 or 4 of the polyps opening. How can I help bring the coral back to life?? Does this coral require direct water flow??

not direct.. strong flow but never aim the powerhead directly at it. Move the colony under strong lighting. They can and will recover. These things are literally indestructible

i have recieved my first frag of GSP and the guy who I recieved them from suggested to brush the frag,,, literaly with a toothbrush,,, if there is any algea on it , they will not open up,, so he said he brushes them every other day,, and he had like a 6x6 inch square of this stuff,,,,so it must work,, just give it a good brushing,,,

I have had to do the bruching technique. It is the only way to save your coral once it starts getting algae covered. Also, heavy indirect flow will help keep the coral healthy.

One way of getting rid of the algae is using a turkey baster to blow water on the GSP rock... but continuous good flow is better..

I just looked at the tank with a flash light.. I saw a few bristle worms on the GSP. Could they be killing the coral???
Doubtful, it's much more likely they're cleaning up detritus from between the polyps.

Give them a good (gentle) brushing to remove the algae, they put them in medium-high random flow with medium-high light and they'll grow like weeds. If you can get NO3 & PO4 to zero out the algae should die off and stay away for good; best of luck, I know battling algae isn't fun.
