I have no idea where to post this, but on my rocks Im seeing green thread looking things. Id say they are less in diameter then sewing thread and many are several inches long. Some are distinctly segemented about every 1/16th of an inch, while others are not. They do appear to be moving, but they dont travel. Also Im starting to see very small, what appears to be white star fish, but they are missing one of the appendages. Any ideas as to what these guys are? or where i should post this question.

I cant help you with your ID request but if you post this in OTHER INVERTIBRATES forum maybe LeslieH will read it because if anyone will know it will be Leslie, best of luck with the ID

the starfish are normal. everyone gets them. i use them as a sign that the tank is healthy and able to support another form of life. idk about the green thread things though

The segmented legs of mini serpent stars are a good thing and as bsylv91 notes, is a sign your tanks is headed in the right direction. The green strings could be a species of sponge. Some are turned off to them but those that know sponges do whatever they can to cultivate them. The are nothing more than nature's phosphate filters. Just like the starfish, they are piece of the puzzle.

The white stars are asterina stars probably.

The green threads (if actually green) are probably worms similar to spaghetti worms that reside in the sand. IME I've found that if the arms are blk/white banded they're mini brittle stars, but the green ones are attached to worm-type organisms.
