Green Toadstool Leather Problems

So I bought a Green Toadstool about 3-4 days ago and it's not looking to hot. It was all open and beautiful at the LFS and now it just looks so sad. It's been droopy since the first night and hasn't bounced back..It still has its polyps peeking out and I have read that they are temperamental and shed. It seems to have a film that I have been blowing off with a turkey baster and removing it with a net. It is in a medium flow area and in the middle of my tank getting light. Does anyone have experience with this? How long will it shed? I just scared it's going to die but all my other corals are doing great. I have LPS and tons of zoas and the leather is the only thing pouting. I will post a picture when I get home of what it currently looks like.

I don't currently test for Mag, Strontium, Iodine, or Phosphate but will be doing so soon when I get the kits. Here is what the leather looked like the first day. It looks more droopy and floppy now though...

leathers r pretty hard to kill. give it time for it to acclimate.

Well I got home and looked over the leather and he was rotting inside the folds that u couldn't see....I had to get rid of it as I didn't want my other corals to die as well. I won't be doing leathers again that's for sure...

When I say rotting I mean about half of it was gone and the center had melted halfway down the stalk. I'm so upset I loved the look of that coral too... hopefully it didn't send my tank into an NH4 spike.... Arg

Good news! I went to my local LFS and was just browsing like always and I told the owner about the leather and how it just fell apart when all my other corals are fine. He replaced the piece for free so I'm going to give this another shot. The coral is definitely not as droopy and is actually firm so all looks good ATM fingers crossed

you should place the new one on the bottom of the tank when you first introduce it to the tank so it can acclimate to your lights and then moved it up gradually to the final position. You should always dip your corals before placing them in your tank also.

This guy was doing well before I left for a trip. Water is good. Everything else is awesome. I did add a tuxedo urchin to the clean up crew. Appreciate any thoughts!
