Okay, I feel as if I need to speak up. I had a really sad experience with Green Valley Aquariums her in Las Vegas. First off, I will say they seem to have a good selection, but when I saw a tub of sub-par live rock for $11.99 per pound I actually laughed out loud. Onto the story...
So I spent about an hour in the store after work one day just browsing the fish, checking out their small reef tank, and talking with a lady who I believe is the owner. A few other customers were in and out, and shortly before I left, a family came in. The mother was looking for a specific fish (I think it was a big trigger, but can't remember) and the kids wanted to buy one of everything they saw. They finally decided that they were going to buy 3 fish and asked the owner if they were compatible. I couldn't believe the words that came out of her mouth... she said "Well, I definately think they can go together, but it is just my job to sell the fish and make money, not to worry about what you put in your tank."
:mad2:
GVA is the closest store to my house, and I really like their selection, but because of this one little statement, I will never do business with GVA.
As much as I hate to defend her, the owner is a business owner and certainly needs to watch her bottom line. I understand. I myself go to Frys every time I need something electronics or computer related, knowing that the sales people know absolutely nothing about their products... they have a good selection, so I go there.
I may get over my issue with GVA, understanding that they are a business, but I have this personal issue that says pet store owners should have some moral obligation towards the animals they are selling.
Okay, done with my venting.
