Anybody else notice greens and yellows turning more bright under 10 k rather than 20k and mostly blue spectrum of light?
I have heard alot of talk about acans losing the greens and yellows in rainbows and i was looking to prevent this.
I changed to a 10k bulb in the center of my tank and noticed a red aussie getting some green stripes wheras it was all red before under all 20k blue spectrum.
Wonder what they would do under 6500k?
Heres my rainbow just for kicks. Just got it today .

I've been keeping my rainbow Acans under low lighting and they have been keeping their color.

I keep them all in a 125 with 2 96w 460nm PC's. The pc's are 36" long which means the Acans are under one bulb. I keep them close to the bottom of the tank on some eggcrate.
I do have a couple 175w halides in this light fixture, but I only run it 10-15 hours a week.

This guy has been in the tank for about a month, with no color loss.

Here is a pic of a Rainbow Acan back in August.

I used photoshop's "Auto Levels" feature in that photo to take out all the blue.

Here is the original photo with the blue haze

But the point is that you can see it looks even better now than it did back in August.

Dang that is some low light. I havent dabbled with the aussies yet, but am starting to hear some people haveing a lil trouble trying to figure out placement etc. Are these guys that are coming in lately less tolerable of intense lighting?

Beautifull acan btw, I need to get me some of that "Auto Levels" alot of my photos get that bluish-green haze too, love how it true'd up the color. Some serious smack you in your face orange ;)

Yes that is some low light. Kinda a bummer if you want to keep sps and the aussies together if they like that low of light.
I am hoping to keep thier color with my halides.
