Grey's Anatomy psychologists Fishtank

FWIW. I was watching Grey's Anatomy last night. When Grey was in the psychologist office, I noticed the saltwater tank. Looked like a 55 gallon with two yellow tangs, a PBT and a Hippo. I was just wondering if those fish stayed in the tank for the season or just plopped in when needed. All thoughts are welcome

I imagine the fish are just in there for filming. I doubt anybody has the time to take care of them when they stop.

ha ha, I noticed that tank too!

Same here. The tang police better visit the set of that show.

As soon as i saw that tank in the background i thought i could hear the sirens of the Tank Police off in the distance......

Years ago I was watching the True Inside Story of Married With Children.

And one of the producers being interviewed just had the most gorgeous reef tank in the background.

Turns out he is a member here. :D

Nice guy too.

I have worked on many sets with aquariums and they were always just props. Usually rented from a company in the city we were in. These were feature films though and shooting would usually just be for a day or two at the specific location and the tank was taken down each day and set up again the next. I have seen fish die on set though because they are not always well taken care of or meant to be in these tanks long. Sometimes the day drags on and the poor fish just stay in a crammed, uncycled tank for 14-15 hours. If its a tank that is always used in a TV series, it would have been set up properly and would stay on set most likely.

I have never seen Greys Anatomy though...

The tank looked very sterile. Its a shame the fish have to suffer. They looked like very healthy tangs. I hope I am wrong. I have seen this tank for the last three weeks.

Hopefully some will. They could of easily put four fish that could get along and be the right size for the tank

I did some work for a guy who designed and built tanks for movies, TV, as well as permanent commercial and residential installs. He actually had a set of Tangs that were his "stars" that he kept as his personal pets for years. He had them trained to be easily captured so he could take them to locations, have them hang out on set in the prop tank for the day then he'd take them home at the end of the day. They were like trained monkeys.

I saw street kings a week or 2 ago and during one of the scenes there is a shark tank with a dead upside down floating shark. My friend and I had a pretty good laugh about that. I noticed the tank in Grey's Anatomy as well. Another good laugh. A sad laugh of course.
