Grounding Probes and PH measurement

Do most people use grounding probes if they are measuring PH and/or ORP. I have been told that in some cases inaccurate readings occur if one does not use them. Truth or fiction? TIA.

I use both and was not aware of any interference problems. But I am a newbie so I would like to know this as well.
