Group Orders

Hello All,

There has been some discussion on the board about putting together some group orders.

In the past we've run those through the club, but it hasn't gone well and has been hard to account for. The club has actually lost money on some of the group orders.

Sooooooo I just want to do my Treasurer disclaimer that I cannot, at this time, offer to account for any group orders through the club. I will try to get us set up to handle that in the future because I do think it's a good thing. But for now, any of you planning group orders need to volunteer to keep up with the orders and collect for them on your own.

Please don't forget to check with our sponsors and give them the opportunity to match or beat your best price before you order.

Thanks Cathy. I was going to handle the order I offered to place through Paypal to me and I would have to have the payment prior to placing the order and would distribute this on my own. There will have to be no treasurer involvement at all. Thanks. Vicki

I hope I didn't sound rude or anything because I like to help. I've just got my hands full trying to manage the membership and get the bank stuff organized right now and don't want to take on any more and not be able to get it done right.

Truth be told I didn't know any of the group buys had been done through the club, but I was offering to put together some group buys myself for lack of anyone else stepping in to do so in awhile.

I guess it was at the Aug meeting. I brought up the topic of group buys through the club with a member or two doing the coordinating of things. Such as getting the money to Cathy and keeping track of the goods. The general consensus was to just let individuals do group orders and keep track of everything like Jay and Vicki are offering to do with their orders. Which is fine if that is what the club wants and individuals are willing to include the others in orders but it seems to have reduced the number of group buys being done.

If you want to do them through the club, that's fine. If someone will volunteer to keep track of the participants, prepare the order, receive the order and distribute the stuff I'm happy to deposit the funds and place the order on the club's account.

I think our only problem with group orders before was not always collecting before the order was placed and then trying to keep track of paid/unpaid and the resulting follow up. If we do the group orders through the club we just need to make sure that the orders are paid for before they're placed.

Then the accounting is simple and I could handle it fine. We're already set up better to track them now that we were before. I'm still just bringing the whole system up to speed.

Group orders are fun and can help save money. I sure didn't mean to squelch the idea.
