Groups of Trimma / Eviota

I have a 48" x 20" x 20" display tank that has no fish right now. In fact, all it has is rock and a bunch of tigger pods.

I'm thinking of introducing a group of trimma / eviota gobies into the tank before adding any other fish, to let these usual timid fish adjust first.

I was reading the descriptions of the fish and the trimma and eviotas seem to do well in groups. Is this true?

I'm thinking of getting three red eviota gobies, three neon gold eviota gobies, and two trimma cana gobies.

Will this be too much for this tank territory wise? The filtration is massively redundant so that won't be a problem.

The only other tankmates they will ever have are snails and a trio of anthias (ventralis if you guys get the females back in stock =)

Thanks!!

Kinetic,

Thank you for posting on our forum. Gobies from the Genus Eviota and Trimma tend to do better in captivity if they are kept in pairs or groups. Your aquarium is large enough that if the gobies are all added simultaneously, there should be few issues with territory. If you have any additional questions, please feel free to contact us.

I'm not totally sure on this, but I think I remember reading somewhere that one or both of those types of gobies prefer cooler temperatures. I may be mistaken, I just thought I'd bring it to your attention. Sorry if you've already looked into it, I just thought I'd mention it. :)

hmm, you may be thinking of the catalina and the zebra gobies?

my tank temp is on the cooler side of reef tanks anyway (76.9 - 77.0 controlled by aquacontroller III heater/chiller).

LA people: can you confirm that the trimma and eviotas are ok in these temps?

Kinetic and reef3r ,
Thank you for posting in our sponsored forum. Both Eviota and Trimma gobies are tropical fish requiring temperatures between 72-78°F. Catalina Gobies thrive in much cooler temperatures. If we can be of any additional assistance, feel free to contact us.
