growing encrusting montis together?

Is it ok to let encrusting montis grow into each other without harm? Thanks

I've seen pictures of people who have grown green and orange together. There was one guy who had them growing into predetermined patterns.

I have had a pinkish one growing near an Idaho grape for over a year now with the hopes that they will scroll around each other. They seem to be avoiding each other so far, but they stared out quite small and haven't been growing all that fast.

the stronger one, will grow over the weaker one, eventually.


I use kalk paste now to separate them just at the borders.

I add kalk to a glass, with a bit of ro/DI water, put a Q tip in there, and mark the borders [basically burning the polyps that have grown there.

or you could let nature take its course and see how it goes .... keep a frag of each on different corners of the tank in case one looses hard.

if its growing fast, then place a small rock beside it ... or even a frag plug .. let it grow on that too and then move that away.

or you could break a small piece off, and glue it at the middle of the plug and let it encrust the rest.
