growing zoo's

I got my first zoo colony (15 polyps or so) about 2 months ago. Ive since added about 100 more, there very addictive. Anyways is there anything I can or should be doing that will make them spread. I was told at my LFS that these things would take off. There hasnt been any spreading and very little growth. They look great, even better then they did when I first bought them. All my perameters are perfect and Im using PC lights 260 total watts in a 55 gal aquarium. Am I not doing somthing or am I getting to anxious, and just need a little more time?

Just set them and forget them. You are doing great. They will grow.

Another thing, will they grow on my substrate (I have live sand) or does it need to be somthing solid??

They will spread across the sand bed but if you can place some rubble or small rocks they will attach to it so you can do some trading.

More light would help growth rate.

Moderate light can grow them just fine. Just make sure to keep parameters stable, feed em and otherwise leave them alone.

The higher end zoas tend to grow a little slower than the more common/cheaper zoas...
