Growth in sump????

The sump has been up and running for about 2 months now. I have noticed a white things growing rapidly on the sump walls. I worried that they will soon start to grow in the main tank.

Would love to know what exactly the growth is and what to do about it.

hard to tell in the picture, maybe sponges? they usually prefer the dark, so I wouldnt expect them to grow in the display.

yes, im fairly sure that they are sponge... becuase i know just the other day i was cleaning the over flow at my work and they were all in there some about the size of a half dollar!
