Growth on FS?

Hi all,

I just noticed on the back of one of my Frogspawn's head is a small grape sized round growth that is lime green and has a clear tube coming out of the top - something similar to a tubeworm but have not seen anything come out of it. The growth's texture is the same as an orange peel.

Any idea what it could be? I posted a small pic in my gallery.

The clear tube is very soft and the green ball is kind of soft like foam rubber if that helps. I'm tempted to remove it.

Looks like a sponge. It shouldnt hurt anything, unless its a boring sponge, which it doesnt look like it is.

I agree, its probably a sponge. i have a few of a specimen that sounds very similar to yours.

Thanks! I'll go with sponges. I've never seen them look like this before. Always something new.

Could be a tunicate. If it can change the size of its openings, its a tunicate

I was wondering if I was going to get a comment about posting pictures.

I've never used Photobucket as I am NOT a fan of posting pictures on the net even though it would have been easier to look at.
