Its not all about having a calcium reactor.....I dont have one, but I do dose with a 2part dosing pump. I had just as good results when I was adding 2 part manually but it was more of a PITA to maintain and involved alot more testing.

I'd say that is pretty good growth. Usually frags take time to acclimate, spread over the base, then grow vertically. You're on the right track!

I will say it depends on the frag....I have some frags that did NOTHING while others exploded. It really all depends on the coral. Just because its not growing very fast now doesnt mean it wont take off either. Im not telling you to go change anything either. Your best bet is not to guage your tanks growth by small frags like that. its best to determine it based on the health of larger colonies.

Your looking good to me Travis. The example that Horace used is very good but growth is exponential and Horace had a lot more going on to begin with. As your corals grow you will see this happen too. :)

I believe its first, water quality, with stability a close second, with lighting a close third which all combined is what ensures high growth rates.

All three are joined contributing factors, but without good water they will die in a matter of hours, without stability days to weeks, and without lighting weeks to months.

There's growth, there's polyps, looks good in my book, don't worry about these other guys who are ragging you on the speed of your growth :)

The system has only been running sence December '05, and SPS sence Febuary '06. Another guy on the Lousiana Reef Club website said that his SPS did the same thing that mine are doing, but at around the 1 year mark of them being in the tank, they finaly exploded with growth.

I guess it's what every one has said all along, the tank needs to be established before the SPS will grow properly.

trav looks like the color is back into full swing keep up the good work also just my 2 cents Ca Alk And mg phosphates stability and light are the major components to growth not an allotted amount of time

Travis, the tank is looking really good. I wouldnt change anything, like mentioned earlier the frags have to encrust well before they start growing. ONce they take off, they really take off. Cant wait to see the tank in another 6 months.

I would say that is still decent. You have to notice that the base encrusted and then is growing. Some bases can encrust in a week to 3 weeks. I've had a mille grow an inch in 2.5 months while the base encrusted and then in the next month explode. It is growing very quick.
