GSA Kalkstirrer vs. Two Part dosing pumps

Got a deal on a GSA kalkstirrer for as much as 2 dosing pumps.

Con for the GSA is I run a sumpless tank, so something will have to be rigged so the outlet barb is higher than the tank rim. And an ugly acrylic cylinder will be in view (no knock against the GSA unit, they all look ugly if they are in sight and not tucked away).

Con for the dosers is mixing two part sucks and I only have cabinet space for maybe a gallon of each in my stand. Unless I find something larger that fits perfectly from the Container store or something, which will be a little more expensive than some simple gallon water jugs.

Any thoughts? I'm really torn here, both would work out well and let me automate dosing alk/ca, but it's scary sitting on the edge here!

I like the kalk stirrer option.

I kind of do too, especially since BRS never has any dosing pumps (they did for a month or two this summer, but are now wiped clean). Dosing manually for minor tweaks sounds a little more palatable. I know a few other places on ebay sell pumps, but I like dealing with people that have excellent reputations like BRS.

If you go with the stirrer you will need a RO/DI tank or something where can you put that. Unless you have a different plan.


1 gallon of 2 part will last a pretty long time on a 40 gallon tank.

Yeah the 2 part does last a few months, it's the manual dosing that's killing me (aka lazy). The stand has room for a 5 gallon RO for top off and two 1 gallon jugs.
