GSP not extending

I got some GSP from a friend of mine. In his tank it's fully extended. After about a week in my tank it barely extends at all. It continues to spread, but its just a very short carpet of coral. Alk 7.7, Cal 470, Mag 1350, Ph 8.0-8.2, Temp 76-78. Any ideas?

How big is your tank? What kind of lighting do you have? Sometimes when a coral is receiving too much light it won't extend all the way. If you can move the coral with ease you might want to find it a shadier spot for a few days and see how it responds. You can always move it back to the original location if need be.

Its a 120 deep. It's lit by 2 kessil A360we. The kessils max out at 70% at midday. I have patches from 15 inches to 30 inches deep. The patches at 15 and 20 inches look the same. The patch at 30 inches is dying out. I assumed it was dying out due to lack of light. It's on a base rock I can't move without destroying my whole scape.

If the coral can't be moved you might as well just cross your fingers and hope for the best. There's really no need to start messing with the lighting, the chemistry etc if your other ones look ok.

Sorry, guess I should clarify. They have been like this for 9 months. Spreading and covering the large rock where they started. They seem totally healthy and appear to be thriving, other than not extending. I haven't had to prune them yet because I wanted them to completely cover the rock where they started. But I am thinking that within the next month or two I will have to start pruning.
