GSP....why won't it live in my tank?!?

I picked up a nice size GSP rock from a local reefer. The first couple days it was open and looked great. Since then it has been closed up, same as the branch I have with GSP. Everything else in the tank is doing great and my parameters are all good.

I've tried blowing any debris off everyday, still nothing.

What is it looking for that I'm not giving it??

I have 2x175W MH and 2x96W dual-actinic in a 55gal tank and the rock is on the bottom of the tank. I have a Koralia 3 and a MJ 1200 to keep the water moving.

make sure its in a high flow area and they usually will close up for a long time every now and then

Have you checked it at night?

Mine close up during the day and come out in full bloom at night. I know thier not supposed to do that, but sometimes they get all messed up like that.

yeah I've had my GSP over a year now and cant get it to flourish. other people are like, "how do I stop it from growing or how to kill it?". I have no idea what they are talking about. all my other corals are growing and splitting, but not the GSP.

Agreed 100%

Flow is the answer. A Koralia 3, and a MJ 1200 in a 55 is a very moderate lagoonal current at best. Try doing a search on MaxiJet Mod, you mod that badboy and you'll be amazed how everything will fluff up on you. This coral loves having it's hair blown back:cool:

interesting.... I've had GSP now for 8 months...it looks GREAT...however WONT attatch to rock nor will it grow AT ALL.

Im gonna put it in some heavy flow, I'd say so far it has been in moderate/light flow.

I have a modded MJ1200 already, guess I'll try putting it back in. The only reason I took it out was because the xenia and mushrooms didn't seem to like the flow very much.

So would you suggest maybe the MJ1200 on one side and the Koralia on the other?? Should I leave the MJ1200 with the hydor in the center back wall??
