haddoni not looking to hot......(pics)

What kind of lighting are you running? How's the flow? What are the actual numbers you get from your tests, and also where are ammonia, nitrites, and nitrates?

im running 250MH 14k

Ammonia- 0
Nitrtie- 0
Nitrate- 0
Phosphate- 0
Temp- 80
SG- 1.026
Cal- 500
Alk- 8.6
PH- 8.2

1400 GPH random flow on a 29 gallon.

looks like a gonner how long you had it if theres sand it shoulf be in it.

best of luck.

ok well ive had him for a little over a week. he wont stay in the sand.

you say hes a gonner, but you dont say why, and you dont help me try to fix it. so other than saying that, could you maybe explain yourself a little. judging by what u said it seems like you have some experiance with Haddonis, so please enlighten me

I wouldn't say it's a goner. It just looks like its acclimating. However, since you have had it that long, I would say its definately not in good shape. You probably just bought a bad anemone to begin with and your tank is on the young side to be getting any anemone for that matter.

I bought a Haddoni exactly a week and a day ago too and this is what it looks like.

First day I got it:

I am sorry I bombarded your thread with my pictures but I am just trying to give you an accurate reference of a healthy Haddoni that has been in a tank exactly the same amount of time which is one week and one day. However, my tank is a 55 gallon under Tek T5s and has been up and running for about a year and two months. That could be the difference between my anemone's and your anemone's condition. Remember, anemones in the wild can virtually live forever. The only reason why they die is either because of a natural disaster, getting preyed upon by a predator or mankind. Anemones live in a gigantic body of water that has the exact parameters we should idle with a big ball of fire in the sky. I am really sorry to say this but a 6 month old tank really doesn't compare especially when its only 29 gallons. Heck, even my 1 year and two month old tank doesn't either but mine has established far enough to say the least.

Here's my tank

I have lots of livesand and liverock. Also notice all the corraline algae on the back of the tank which also indicates a healthy established tank. Hope this looooong post can help you a bit. :)

55.... dont worry about pics.... how can anyone not like pics.....yeah i hope hes just getting used to a young environment. i wouldnt have gotton him but i figured that 6 months was a decent amount of time, and he was 30 bucks.... so hopefully hell pull through..

i read somewhere that they will eat live baby brine shrimp, if they are not eating solid meaty foods. has anyone heard this? i guess it makes sense cuz they are small and easy to take in

any other opinions.

thanks
rob

Sorry I only had a little time it was not helpful and for that again sorry.

A healthy anemone especially a haddoni will bury and attach within hours of acclimation (the two I have had done this in minutes).

With most anemones (as all literature will say) the real key to survival is getting a healthy one to start with(again a huge problem if they are being shipped to you i.e live aquaria style best to see the nem and observe it in the shop for a few weeks while leaving a deposit on it) with your parameters not being the problem I would say that you have an unhealthy specimin due to poor shipping etc.
What acclimation did you use?
But again the only acclimation I give to all my anemones is allowing the bag temp to equal the tank temp and bung them in as I believe complicated acclimation can be just as stressful as letting the get on with it, especially is you try to ensure optimum water parameters in your display tank.

The only problem I have occurred is that haddonis they sometimes look strange when purging areas of the tentacles seem to scrunch up but only lasts a day at most.
Heres mine Theres a recent thred on it somewhere on this forum under new purple haddoni. I have this one a month and a green for 6 months ina 29 as well.

Hope it pulls through, does it feel sticky to the touch you should hve trouble pulling your fingers off (dont pull hard let the nem let go)

yeah sorry adt... i am just nervous as usual with new stuff in the tank. well he seems to be doing a little better, part of his foot is stuck on the glass while the other is sticking to the top layer of the sand. hes not buried, but he been in the same spot for the last coupla days.

and to answer your wuestions about his stickyness, yes he is pretty sticky..

one thing that i observed while trying to feed him the other day, is that when i place the food close to his mouth, his nematocysts on the tentacles, seem to stick to his mouth so he he cant take in food. does anyone have any experiance with this situation.

i will post pics when i get off work.

Thnks
Rob
