Halimeda Questions

I have a few questions about Halimeda. Can this macro go sexual and kill off a tank and if so, how likely is it? What are the warning signs. I would like to put a bunch of it in my display but Im really worried about whether or not that is safe. Any more advice about this stuff would be great!

Thanks.

Halimeda go sexual, but at least from what I've heard, it's less likely to kill a tank than Caulerpa. If the "leaves" starts to fade in color and you can see little green dots, that's the warning sign that it's about to sporulate.

IME experience it's fairly common for Halimeda to die back and then regrow. In that case the "leaves" will just slowly turn white, but won't get any green dots.

I got a bunch of this stuff the other day. It has turned white and died in many areas but no dots. I guess like the above poster said, it can die and grow back often. I hope this is the case this time! Its maybe 30% white now.

oki have some as well, and it appears that something is eating it, i mean it's in pieces!! i have tried several times to see who is the culprit, to no avail! i see alot, i mean ALOT of pods on and under it all the time, could they be doing it? one more week of this and it will be gone!! btw it is in the tank, with a clown, blue chromis and a cleaner shrimp. and it's planted in the sand.
thanks for your help!!
