Hammer and Frogspawn Compatibility

These are two of my favorite corals and I recently added a 10" Wall Hammer from Dr Mac that is starting to adapt well to the tank and opening up well. I have the opportunity to add another Hammer from a local reefer who is breaking down her tank, its a branching Hammer though, nice lime green with pink tips.

Do you guys see any compatibility issues in tank?? Also placement. I know the feeders can extend quite a bit, but will these two differene species actually battle each other?? Placement isnt a problem since i have plenty of room to keep them apart, but knowing how close they can co-exist would help.

Also... I got a branching frogspawn in the same shipment from Dr Mac and the same reefer has a different species (coloration). The same questions above for the frogspawns.

Any insight or advice is greatly appreciated... Dave

I keep both in my tank, never have had any problems. I've asked the same question in the past and always have been told they are fine together. I think you are good to go.

From others experiences and reading this is what I found out (I only have one in the tank so this is not personal experience).

The different types of Euphyllia (branching or wall - frogspawn, hammer/anchor etc) are fine placed together. I recently read an article by E. Borneman and he cautioned against putting a torch coral (another Euphyllia) near the others though. He had noticed that this one, for whatever reason, did not play well with others in the family.

Good luck!

Hammers and Frogspawn in any combination are fine in my experience, but I've also heard to not put torches with the other two common euphyllias. Hope that helps! :)

I have a torch near a couple of frogspawns and the downstream frogspawn has been touched by the torch a couple of times. The torch hasn't killed the frogspawn but it looks slightly distressed on that side.

my torches touch my spawns all the time, in fact, they are 3/4 of an inch apart at one point, with no stinging issues, which is what makes Euphyllia one ov my favorite genus.

You mean, like this?

These are branching.
