Hi all, I just registered into reefcentral today to ask this question. Firstly some background information on my tank.
Tank: 30 gallon
Sump: 15 gallon refugium
Light: Chinese 165w led box (5% white, 20% blue)
Water parameters: Ca 420, Alk 8, Mg 1280, Temp 82, SG 1.027
Inhabitants: 3 blue damsel, 1 diadem dottyback, 1 tailspot blenny, some snails.
Corals: Clove polyp frag, RPE paly, Hammer corals.
pH, nitrate and phosphates not tested. Using large refugium with chaeto ball to keep the excess nutrients down, very minimal nuisance algae in display tank.
So my questions is I just bought a few hammer corals (1 large, few smaller frags) yesterday and the largest one seems to be acting weird. It tends to open and close throughout the day. It was fine in the morning when just the blue light were on then when the whites came on it shrunk in. Then after awhile it extended back again followed by shrinking 10 minutes later. The other hammer frags I bought together with this piece all stays open. The flow on this particular piece is not very strong (tentacles gently waving) so I'm not sure what the problem could be. Does anyone know if this is typical behaviour of hammers or is there something I need to look into. Below are some pictures to help with possible solutions.
Large piece open

Large piece around 10 minutes later

Other frags

Any advice would be appreciated thanks. :spin1:
