Hammer coral wont open

I purchased some new corals today, a Gorgonian, a Kenya tree, and a Hammer. The Gorgonian and Kenya tree are both open and look great, but for some reason the Hammer isnt. I dipped them with coralrx for around 10 minutes prior to placement in the tank. The Hammer is about a third of the way up under 4x T5's, there is not a large amount of flow hitting it and literally every other coral in the tank is open. That includes a Torch, Elegance, Xenia, Acans, Clove, Mushrooms, Pipe Organ, Colt, Bubble, and Toadstool Leather.

Could it just be taking longer to get used to its new enviroment? It has been in the tank for 5 hours.

Yeah, it's probably still getting used to it's new surroundings. It's nice when they open up right away, but this isn't always the case. You might want to give it at least 48 hours before you start making any changes. GL.

Ok cheers, my water parameters are good so i'll keep an eye on it. I know 5 hours doesnt seem like a long time but after seeing all the other corals open pretty quickly it tends to worry you slightly when the one you dropped £60 on stays closed.

Give it time. I bought one and had no clue what my parameters were, it was also covered in algae. My cuc cleaned it. Every day is getting bigger. Sometimes things happen just because. Keep an eye on it. You will notice if it's unhappy

Just out of curiosity, is this a branching hammer or a wall hammer? For some odd reason the wall hammers just don't have the best survival record right now. Lot's of horror stories out there. GL.

Wall. It was fully expanded and looked great in the store, in fact they have had this one in for a couple of weeks at least so hopefully it is just getting used to its new environment. Its polyps are out 'a bit' now, just nowhere near how much they should be.

Euphyllias are easy. Give them time to acclimate and it will be fine.

Corals are like people....they don't come out of their shell until they loosen up a bit.

also I would recommend putting it on the sandbed for at least a couple of days so it can get acclimated to your lights. that's a good way to bleach a coral out.
