I got a hammer coral today. It is my understanding that they need moderate flowand light. I have 800 watts of VHO on a 24" high oceanic so I figure they should go in the middle third of the tank.

What about feeding them?

The hammer coral are served by photosynthetic zooxanthellae so no need to target feed. They will catch food particles as you feed your tank.

Closer to the top start in the middle and move it up. You donââ"šÂ¬Ã¢"žÂ¢t have to target feed them.

I spot feed mine and it is branching like crazy!!! I started with 4 heads and in less than 3 months it more than doubled in size.

I spot feed mine a 5ml syringe of cyclop-eeze every few days. I turn off the pumps so the stuff sticks to the tentacles, then turn the pumps back on (it seems to be more active with some water flow). At any rate, it loves the stuff!
