Hammer Coral

I recently bought a hammer coral from my LPS, it was doing great the first few days, but now it spends most of its time sucked into itself. At times some of the lower portions will extend, but for the most part it has been sucked in the last two days. I have it 10" from the top of my tank, is this too much light for it. What can I do to fix this problem, or is it a problem? I checked all my normal balances, and all are in check and my temp is currently at 77 degrees. This was a very good looking piece and I would hate to loose it!

I have T5 pro series lighting ... It's rated at 365 watts, but I've been told with the T5's you can't always go by watts.

If you want an answer you need to provide us with more info. Current? Ammonia, nitrates, Calcium, etc... Have you tested your parameters. If so what are they?

Hammer corals can handle most lighting conditions. I keep mine under 2-250 watt MH's. They don't need this much light but they still thrive under it. In my old setup they where under 130 watt's of pc lighting and all was well there too. I don't think the lighting is your problem.

My NH3 is 0, as are my nitrates and nitrites, my Ph is about 8.2 - 8.3 . I have not checked my calcuim yet, but this is the only coral that I have in the tank, plus I did a partial water change this past sunday. I did move the piece this morning, and I noticed that it has begun to extend again, but not as full as it was a few days ago.
