Hammer in trouble?

Can you "bleach" a hammer ? When I bought him the LFS told me he would look kinda pink under my T-5 lights. I just dont know what is pink and what is a slow fading. He is about 14 in from the lights. I have a fixture that holds 14-39 watt bulbs.

If it was getting to much light, what it be doing. That picture is a week old. It has less color today.
