Harlequin Bioload

How much of a load do Harlequins place on a system. I have a 30g tank w/ a Tunze nano skimmer. I run carbon and phosban w/ weekly water changes. I'm worried that it may place too high of a bioload having them in there with an anemone. I think I would be a few chocolate chip stars and keep them in my sump and just cut off a leg every 1-2 weeks. Thanks.

You would be fine. Harlequins don't really add a huge bioload with live stars. I would double check with someone that feeds sliced-off legs since that is decaying matter, but I'm still pretty near certain that you would be fine.

I just got mine, but they have already almost devoured an entire choc chip star. I think as long as you keep an eye on it, if they stop eating the star/or leg and its decaying (which I think will be obvious) then take it out.

mine are in my 24g along with 2 anemones(one is giant) and a load of corals. My tank has been up 2 years though.
How old is your tank?

My tank is about 6 months old, but only recently have I really added anything. I've added 2 clowns, the anemone, and a few corals over the last week.

An aquarium keeper told me that you can increase the speed of regeneration in stars by applying iodine to the severed arm. Might want to give it a shot. Anyone tried this?
