Does anyone have any harlequin they would wish to sell or trade. I want to get rid of a growing asterina population in my tank.

Alternatively, has anyone seen any for sale locally?

Thanks,

P.

Scott at Aquarium Oddballs had one in last weekend. Paul, I'm looking to get a large population of Asterina Starfish as a food source for my future Harlequin Shrimp tank. ;) I'll take any and all donations

Travis..........you have seen my tank. what makes you think i can get them out of there.

I need to get them eaten!!!!!!!!

It was worth a shot *tries to look innocent*

They were driving me nuts in my little 30 gallon. I was lucky enough to get ahead of them by yanking them when ever I saw them. No matter what I was doing I got my hands wet and pulled them. I have yanked over 20 out of my small tank.

I would do the same as you are doing if I had a big tank. The only thing I found them eating was coraline but then again, some of my zoas are not looking too good. They barely open and may be stressing from the asterina

i have lost a few sps and found them on it....i do kow they have eaten zoos before.

Besides, halequins are cute

I thought about getting a harlequin shrimp but would not want to keep it after the asternia are gone..

We have 2 atm paul, if you cant find one locally, I can always bring you one up on my next trip, probably gonna get a couple more in tommorrow also

Does anyone know if they will eat dead asterina or do they only eat them when they capture them alive?

I was pulling out 10 a day for a few weeks until I got tired of it from my 75 gallon. I had a population explosion when I was having horrible nusiance algae problems. If you lived close Travis you could have all you wanted :) I must have made a dent in the population as I don't see nearly as many any more.

I see Liveaquaria.com seems to have them in stock, but that's neither a club member or local shop as was requested.

Aquarium Oddballs is located at 31st & Sheridan in Tulsa

Harlequin Starfish aren't really that picky. You can take frozen Asterina Starfish and place them in the tank for food. They won't eat ones that you just leave out though. And of course they eat the live ones.
