Have a few questions about the first coral i got.

I just bought my first coral today and i have a few questions. It is a polyp coral, not sure which one. I need to know if i should be worried about the small broken polyp in the middle. It must have broke off and now it wont come out and it looks very pale and unhealthy. Here is a pic: http://i.imgur.com/g7GIF0b.jpg

I also would like to know which parameters i should be testing for keeping soft corals. Thank you.

I wouldn't worry about it. Those palythoas are very hardy. Here's a couple articles regarding your coral & water parameters.
Since your tank looks fairy new though, keeping the salinity steady is really the only thing you need to worry about. (top offs) Regular water changes alone should keep things like alkalinity, calcium & magnesium within range. GL.
