Have an Island Tank?

Those with tanks that are not pushed up entirely or partially against a wall, and have it standing in the middle of the room: Do you have any tips about setting this up? In terms of electrical, and remote plumbing... even lighting tricks or must haves?

Pictures would be fantastic too!

I'm going to be moving soon, and would like to setup my elos 120 in the middle of a room. I am remodeling the house that I'm moving to, and will probably have to reinforce the floor, put some GFCI plugs in the floor there, and do some underfloor plumbing to a RODI, remote chiller, and auto water changer. I also have a pendant setup, and will need to hang it (Might need to get a new better looking one).

Just looking for suggestions and tips for those who've done it before.

Thanks!

ps. post pictures ;)

Are you putting it in the middle of the room or is it going to be sticking out off of the wall to be veiwed from 3 sides?

If you are putting it in the center of a room and veiwable from four sides, I have seen some cool cubes with the overflow pipe in the center of the tank. I will try and find some pics.

+1 on central overflow. You can make a central overflow box and split it in half with one side being dry to chase cords etc., and the other half for overflow pipes. Creative rock work around the overflow box can hide most of it.

I already have the tank, but was talking more about the setup around the tank, meaning putting GFCI's in the floor, plumbing stuff through the floor, etc.

You can check out my build thread. Mine is at the center of my hall with a center overflow but it's a shallow reef.... (click on my red house)

However it's a huge thread (very detail so be ready for some reading time)

Some pictures to motivate you...

If you got any questions, you can post in my build thread.

Good luck with your build....
