OK WELL NIETHER HAVE I!!!!!!!!!Hey I recently bought a purple reef lobster who is def one of the prettiest I’ve seen, its better looking than the photo examples that online store use to sucker you into buying one lol. But there one problem, I know that they are notorious for being avid hiders but does anyone know of a trick to get them to pick a more visualized spot( i.e. not the darkest cave in the rear of the tank) or to have they come out to feed? Since they are scavengers I placed a guppy half way into the sand in front of the whole he hides in think hey he’s hunger he's got to come and get it sometime but instead about 30 seconds later my army of blue legged crabs came marching in and had their way with it! Id love to hear if you guys know of anything even if you have an off the wall suggestion throw it out there can't hurt lol. Thanks

haha, I looked it up and some people make caves that use the front glass as one of the walls. They fill it with some food and the hider some times takes to the cave.

I thought my first one was dead for 6 months before I saw a molt and knew he was still in there (he since had a molting problem and couldn't free his claw, ultimately ending in his demise). I got a new one when he passed and I saw him for the first few weeks until he chose another spot. Once in a while, during feeding, he'll show up to make sure he gets his share, but this is rare.

So i rearranged some live rock to see if i could get him to favor a better spot and instead he paniced flying around the tank knocking things over and then went right back to his orginal spot! lol

Oh my. I googled them and they look pretty - I think I saw what was one in Aquaria Studio.. are they reef safe ? i couldn't find any definitive yes or nos just lots of debate =\

I lovet hings that look like lobsters its a very weird thing i have

My PRL is absolutely reef safe. Of course, he never leaves his home, so he couldn't pester things if he wanted to...

haha, they are very cool looking, I've never seen one past like 4 inches so if anyone has picture of theirs thats bigger in thier tank, post some pics.
