hi i just got a 3in lawnmower blenny at my LFS 2 days ago and he will not eat anything i put in the tank including both mysis and brine shrimp, a mix between the two shrimps, squid, red sea weed, and a frozen veggie meal ive all tryed and he will not eat. so i was wondering for those of u reefers out there that have or had or have good knowledge of them, wht do u feed ur lawnmower blennys, is there some type of other algae based food i should try or wht.
PLEASE HELP.
THANKS

Hopefully you have some algae growing he can munch on. It takes them a week or longer to figure out GOD adds food from the sky. I had one that didn't eat at feeding time for about 2 months. He was fine as he munched on algae all day.

I have one over 7 mths now and i've never actually seen him eat the pellets, mysis or plankton i feed on a daily basis. he eats algae whole day and also stirs up the sand bed often to get food. always eating algae on the glass that my glass cleaner cant clean

Mine only ate algae from my tank for about three weeks and then he started eating just about whatever that was meaty.

It was mostly hair algae which was the reason I got him in the first place. I did have some sort of macro growing that I would occasionally see him nip at.

He's always cleaning whatever grows on my rocks............... he's always doing that.
I dont have any hair algae in my tank. yeah he also eats whatever is growing on the sand bed........ stirs it up and then eats whatever is floating around

I have one that's been in my tank for almost 2 years and it will not eat anything but what is on the rocks or the tank bottom and he is fat and healthy I wouldn't worrie about it he should be fine...

I guess once you have an established tank, he'll always have food on the sand bed. I read that stiring up the sand bed for food is normal for them.......... and to thing when he started to do that, i thought he had issues

ok good then ill tell u guys if any thing gets worse even tho i doubt it will now haha
THANKS

hello any updates on your blenny? I have the same trouble too, I got a blenny and so far the only thing I see him eating is the film algae at the back of my tank, have not alot of algae.

Tagging along as I too just got a blenny over this past weekend - did you all qt your blennies? Mine is in qt and there really isn't much for him to munch on, been trying to feed him tiny shrimp and flake food. Also have nori for him. But he just sits in the same spot and doesn't move - I have to poke him every now and then to make sure he's alive. I thought these guys were rather hardy??
