Hawaii and rock

I'm in Hawaii. Yes it is fine! Does anyone know if I can take rock off of the beach and back to the mainland?

Off the beach is OK. It's illegal to collect any rock that has any visible life on it, however.

Pele will haunt you for the rest of your life should you remove any of her belongings from Hawaii!!!!!!!!!!!!! :smokin:

No Kahiki mai ka wahine `o Pele,
Mai ka `aina mai o Polapola,
Mai ka punohu a Kane,
Mai ke ao lapa i ka lani.

The woman Pele comes from Kahiki,
From the land of Polapola,
From the rising mist of Kane,
From the clouds that move in the sky.

Thanks for the answers. Now to find the rocks.

Which island are you on?
I know a good place on Oahu I can direct you to.

I am on Oahu Jeff. That would be great if you could direct me. My son lives here so he should recognize where you say. Thanks-

Sheryl

I brought back several large (football sized) rocks and went through the agriculture and security checks with no problems.
These rocks are all dead and dry.

Aloha Travis! Want me to bring you some back too? I took rock out years ago and it was OK. Just want to make sure I still can. We are going to the giant aquarium restaurant tonight...I can't wait. Off of a bridge, I fed a file fish that was over a foot long. Huge tangs, Moorish idols, parrot fish, all feeding on the side of this bridge. This place...crazy! Since my DIY rock was a bust I need rock.

Jeff and others, thanks for the info. Will try and find it. They have 2 places that you can get your water from a spicket from the ocean. One is free! No reef tanks allowed but free water...woohooo!

Aloha! I woudn't mind a couple smaller pieces. Mainly for looks, really. Most of all, I would love to see pictures! Next time, stuff me in a suitcase and smuggle me there

I watched the airport security remove a large rock from a passenger's bag, and they were not very happy! Aside from the curse they said would follow you, DO NOT TRY TO CARRY ON! Big rock= potential weapon. Thats just what they said.

someone that was going to hawaii told me that you can take one gallon of rock(displacement?) per person per day.
