Hawiian Feather Duster in trouble!

I'm very concerned about my feather duster. I've noticed some holes in his tube. I even caught a snail on him. Not sure if he was eating the tube but the holes in his tube are growing. I've checked all the water parameters I could think might be relevant. Things seem to be well in that regard. I'm at a loss to explain what's going on. Please help. I don't want to loose this little guy.

Thanks,
D

ive had a bunch of feather dusters that hitch hiked on my LR. i wouldnt be too woried about him,he'll be fine. im sure there are others in your tank btw check on your LR for them!!.

Hawiian Feather dusters are continually regrowing their tubes. Mine have always liked being slightly burried with a few inches of the tube sticking out of the sand. The tube is actually made of mucus, and does break down after time so holes are expected. Just make sure you have enough food in the water column for him!

Good luck!

Thanks for the input guys. I guess I shouldn't call him a "little guy". I bought him from the LFS and his feathers (crown?) are probably 3 - 4 inch diameter. the holes in his tube are appearing down towards where he enters the sand. I think he probably has a good 4" of room in the area he retreats to. I was still worried that the tube would finally break and leave him without any extension into the open area he seems to like. I figured he might get stuck down at the bottom or worse.

Well I'll keep my eye on him in the mean time. I spot feed him when I feed my polyps. I hope its enough to keep him nourished.

Thanks again for the input,
D
