Hawkfish suggestions?

KRAZE

So I'll be in the market for another fish soon, and I have always loved the longnose hawkfish, however, they are 'common' to me and I want something a little different. So what are some recomendations for different hawkfishes that will be housed with a mocha clown, yellow coris wrasse and shark nose goby? Tank is a 29 gal but I'll be upgrading in the winter, so size isn't too important, i'll just be sure to get a baby. Oh, and has to be reef safe with lps and softies. No sps will be running in this tank.

Pygmy Hawkfish ?

yup, the geometric pygmy hawkfish. I have one and is very interesting to watch. He is very reclusive and is about 1" now. I hardly ever see him because he is lost in my big reef tank. In your small tank he'll be good. I love mine.:lolspin:

Like a said, size doesn't matter... so why would I want a pygmy (even if it existed)? I bet you saw '29gal' and just figured it should be, and didn't bother reading fully, huh?

I have a red spot hawkfish and he thinks he's the "main attraction" in my tank. Also called a jewel hawkfish. Definitely a gorgeous character.

Sorry for even responding.......................

With responses like this who would even want to bother giving you suggestions?

Oh and btw, you already have enough stock for a 29 gallon. If you plan on upgrading...then get the upgrade first. Life happens and alot of people say they will upgrade but dont do it for years, if they even do.

But if you can appreciate other people's suggestions when you cant do your own research, no reason to get nasty.

+1

Stock for the tank you HAVE, not for the tank you'll have someday.

as mentioned do the upgrade first then fill it later not vice a versa because life happens and if the upgrade doesn't happen then it will be in the for sale section where most likely your not going to sell it for what you paid for it....also the pgymy would be a good choice if you want to keep the goby because with a larger hawk like my Red Banded it would be on the menu....

I have never understood the people that come into forums and ask for suggestions or help and when you don't say what they want to hear. Instant attitude! How rude!

Ok I'll straighten it out.... the whole thing was misunderstood. I thought your post was full of sarcasm, the way you wrote it with the laughing face it seemed as if you were poking fun at the suggestion of a pygmy... and since I have never heard of one, I thought this was a sacrastic comment. My posting was not toward you, but to the original siggestion. And sinceit had a ? then it seemed as if they were guessing at a pygmy.
Srry for the comment back, I just thought some people were pulling my chain.

As for stocking, I had 8 fish at first, they were all fine and moved out as I got expensive coral, so I was gonna get 2 more on top of my 3, and the goby in maybe 1" and the coris is under 2", so 5 fish doesn't scare me.

Even if life happens, i will always be able to set up a fowlr, I have 6 empty 55s right now lol

this is the fish

this is the fish

he looks like a really cool fish, i'll do some check up on him and see if its a viable option.

Also.... Red Banded and Red Spot, same fish? If not, will the Red Spot give me trouble with the Goby like Mike mentioned the Red Banded might?

yes ...although the spotted and banded are two different species of hawkfish they are very simular in size, feeding habits etc..here's a pic of my Red Banded..
