HD Video from my tank

I know exactly where my next $3000 are going! Beautiful.

Puts my nikon d40 to shame.

Are you a photographer?

Thanks! FTV? Haha, that's something you don't hear very often. I'll see if i can put something together in the next few days.

Thanks. No, i'm not a photographer as i don't do this for a living. But, i do have a little side business with a friend photographing youth soccer matches and creating photo/video montages to DVD. That's how i managed to pay for this camera.

Congrats Ramon.

I haven't pulled the trigger on mine yet. I really want to upgrade but I love my original 5D so much that I'm not sure if I can give it up.

Update, i only now realized that the video i linked above was only displaying in 720p. I had the account reconfigured so that it could display 1080p videos. There are several different versions uploaded now as i tweak the rendering settings. Watch the 1080p FullHD version if your computer can handle it (it will skip if your PC can't handle it). If you can let me know which version looks the best, that would be great too. :)

Haha! What are you waiting for? No need to give it up....Just downgrade it to backup status (or wife status as i call it ;)) and pull the trigger already! My buddy is in the same boat as you. He bought the original 5D about 5 months ago and now he wants to upgrade to the new one. His main reason is the micro-adjustment feature (he's a prime shooter). I just did a test on my macro lens and found it front-focusing a little bit. I never realized it since i manually focused most of the time but with this new feature i can feel more confident that it will focus correctly every time. I think its time to do this on all my lenses now. :)

Very nice. Did you have to do anything special to get those movies posted onto the web?

Depends on where you upload it. On smugmug you have several options. You can upload the raw video but that would be huge (220MB for that 44 second clip). Or you can convert it to h.264 and then upload it (39MB for that same clip). Smugmug by default will convert all videos to h.264 format so you're basically saving time and bandwidth by converting it beforehand. I haven't tried uploading to Vimeo or YouTube yet but i believe both of those sites only publish in 720p. Smugmug does 1080p, although they are still in the beta-testing phase which i am a part of.

For editing, i am doing all editing on a PC with Sony Vegas Pro 8.

Oh I'll definitely be buying one, I just need to sell a few more prints. :)

Gorgeous!

Might just be my hardware/monitor (a Westinghouse 32" 1080i) but for some reason the 720p video looked most crisp for me. In any case, congrats on the new camera.

maybe if I sold my car...and a kidney...
