head pressure on canister filter

looking to put a cryptic fuge on my new setup id like a large pump from my display hooked into a 2 inch line that goes to the canister then a 1/2 inch line for return to display ...my question is will the head pressure of the input simulate high pressure in the canister just like the benthic zone? any help would kick wrasse thanks!
