Just wanted to say thanks to all..

I ended up buying 2 6" clip on fans to go in my canopy, they run all day. Pretty silent, I have them blowing on my water.

My temp is down to 80 degrees wo the chiller coming on..

I still have a vent to install with a duct fan for the chiller but I am pretty happy to come home and have no chiller on..

I use more water now, but that is better than having a chiller on that uses 5 amps for 3 hours at a time.

New appliances are on the list for xmas.

New fridge, new stove, and new dishwasher... should use less electricity..

Why didnt I do this before? Who knows... sometimes the simplest solution is the best.

lol thats what mine was when i had to run the house AC... when it gets hot outside i only run my t5s no MH... i too have cut back on my tank thanks to your thread... skimmer is off from 7pm-7am MH are only on for 2 hours and t5 are on for 8 hours.. we will see if it makes a difference...

I run my skimmers at night instead of the day... Doesnt seem to make a difference to the corals.

1 mag 9.5, and 1 via aqua 3300 not running for 12 hours a day:)

I found that my skimmers actually work better?

They dont spin with nothing to skim.. I think that creates the buildup around the edges that makes it skim worse.

So when they skim they actually pull junk out.

I know, it's hard to believe what a difference fans make, but they sure do! Glad you have things under control, Franky... now be care to time your fans or your heater will start clicking like mine was doing this summer!

I stopped running a heater 2 yrs ago... Never made sense to me on a reef tank... I broke the controller and never hooked it back up. I have a controller with temp probe on the chiller though.

Since my chiller went belly up two days ago, I have been using (1) 6-inch fan to keeps things cool. I lifted the front of my canopy up and let it blow over the surface. It has been running a steady 79 degrees with the lights on. I dont know why I havn't tried this method before. I picked up my chiller today. Since JBJ couldn't identify what was causing the problem, they just gave me a new chiller. Since this fan is working out so good, I am in no hurry to install the new chiller. Frank your right, it's nice not having it cycle. I bet my electric bill will be a bit less as well if I keep it disconnected.

My chiller has not come on in a month since it got cooler. My fans are not even coming on much now.
