Hey everyone! I've been doing some research on heaters for large aquariums and I've actually been quite dissapointed. It seems there arent many options when it comes to heaters. Im needing heaters for my 180g that I am setting up. What do you all use for heating large tanks? Any reliable brands? Ive read bad reviews on almost all brands which worries me.

Thanks!

I'd probably start with 3 x 300W for your tank depending on room ambient/desired tank temp..

The problem with today's competitive online market is the negative reviews on every product. Either competitors post them, disgruntled customers who had unrealistic expectations, or any other number of reasons for this. It takes a little skill to navigate the bs reviews from the legit. Typically I look for well described positive and negative reviews. I don't give any mind to a short "arrived broken" or "product doesn't work as claimed" comments.

On the other hand if someone takes the time to describe either positives or negatives those are quality imo. Especially if they contacted customer service or the seller and received feedback.

As to your question, get a few heaters so the work load is spread out and in case of failure the others will keep the heat up until it can be replaced. 3 or 4 300w depending on the temp difference you need between the tank and ambient air.

In general I usually say 5x water volume for heater wattage is suitable for up to a 10 deg (F) delta.. (room at 70F.. tank at 80F)

If you have 5deg delta or less then 3x is usually just fine..
