Got a new Helfrichi Fire Fish and of course as soon as I put it in, my Purple Tang went after it(lights were out and still are). I just looked in with a flash light and noticed his dorsal fin is missing. Will it grow back? Thank, Dave

How much of it is gone? It should grow back fine.

Do you lots of places for the firefish to hide? Where the Tang can't reach?

Do you have a QT?

What will you be feeding?

What other livestock?

All gone, tons of rock, it decided to hide finally, just tried to evade out in the open at first, learned a bit late. I feed mysis, formula 1, formula 2, spirulina, nori, prime reef and Rod's.(I like variety LOL

Variety is good. The only thing you might add is Selcon or Zoe.

I think the damage would have to be severe for it not to grow back, but with good nutrition I would expect it to be looking much better in a week or two.

Your next purchase should really be a QT. Every new purchase is a chance for ich, flukes, velvet, etc.

And if the firefish has trouble settling in, you'd be able to move him to QT to lower stress and target feed.

So now, it sounds like you just need to wait. And make sure he's not getting picked on continually, and that he's getting food.

Frozen cyclops might come in handy, as it will likely get to him no matter where he's hiding in the tank. Although I'm guessing the Rod's has some in it.

Thanks TTT, I also forgot to mention Nutra OVA eggs, similar to frozen cyclops but tastier from what I have seen...
