Here are some of my two colonies. The more upright one has bluish/purple hues. The larrger one is pretty much all brown.

It's been relatively slow. The second colony pictured has grown faster than the more upright one for some reason. I'd say that in five years, the upright one has maybe tripled in size (new upward growth being more prevalent than outward growth), where the more compact colony grew from a frag maybe three years ago. Not sure why the growth rates are so different, though. The upright one has been getting more light and more flow than the compact one (not sure what that tells us, though...).

wow we both have similar colonies as we have a straight branch and a compact, both we got at a swap a month ago, I know these are slowwwww growers but our upright has added about a 1/4" nub off the top left in 4 weeks and the compact no growth, both arein the same area and get = lighting and flow

We are keeping ours in a 58g Oceanic RR under 250W Reeflux 20k about mid level in the tank with a mag 3 return 2x tunze 6025, Koralia1 and a Koralia Nano for flow

I've got both of mine in a 120 under (2)-175W 14K Ushio's and (2)-110W VHO actinics. Th more upright one has it's base at about the half way point of the water column, and the more compact one is on the sand bed. That may explain some of the growth differences (more flat growth for more light, more upright growth when it gets more light). Not sure on that, though. The upright one gets probably 2 times as much flow as the compact one ((2)-Tunze 6100's in the tank).

my understanding of these beauties is that they require sps quality water, lighting and flow,in another week or so we are going to add some more rock to get them higher in the water column = more light and flow and will see how they do
