I read on melevsreef.com that he tried to use these lights and had issues, anyone else have any input on them. Might be a inexpensive way for me to get some real wattage into my 55gal project.
A lot of folks here use T-5 and are pleased with them, the only draw back to them that I see is figuring out which bulbs to put in, since you have such a choice. A 55 gallon would work well with 4 48' bulb fixture, Be aware that there is still a strong support base for metal Halide lighting.
I changed from MH to T-5 and am very pleased with the lighting for my tanks
i think he meant helios t5 norman...and ive read that they were terrible as well..probably why they're so cheap....a quality ballast and bulb setup will go a long ways so check out reefgeek.com....there's quite a few of us on here that us T5 and love it
yeah, that is what I meant John. I seem to remember seeing these at aminal city in m'boro, I cant remember but was gonna go look at them if they were worth anything. just going on a fowlr so really just need them to light up the tank a little brighter than the regular output tubes i have for it now
