Hello all , I'am not new to the hobby but returning after about a 7 year sabatical.

I'am fixin to get a new tank together and have been reading this great forum getting some Idea's on what I want to do this time.

My last tank was a 120gal tall custom tank. Just not sure I want to go that grand again :eek2: .

Was thinking about a 75 gal. this time and trying to keep it simple. I went way over board last time and things got expensive and got tired of dishing out money. :bum:

Was wanting to keep it to where I could use one metal halide and some antics , just not sure what size tank to get yet.

Anyway thanks for a great forum guys.

75 will get pretty crowded sooner than u think. Go with the 120 if you can afford it. Makes for a nicer aquascaping if you have a bigger tank.

I think the a 75 gallon tank is a nice inexpensive way of entering or re-entering the hobby. They don't cost an arm and a leg and if your patient you can pick up a used one ... Further, you don't have to take yoga lessons to put a sump under a 75.

well the way i see it its all going to cost money no mater what. unless you go man vs. wild style and go catch everything yourself haha but its up to you if you dont want to spend a boat load of money go with the 75 even a nice 40 gallon breeder is a nice tank. but if you have the meny and are willing to spend it go with what you would enjoy more. its all up to you. personaly if i had the money for a 120 i'd do it. but i wont be able to afford it unless i break down all my tanks.

Chad,

We have members that come up from Oxford. You should think about attending our next meeting in July and check out the club. Yesterday was our June meeting, sorry we missed it by a day. We have a good mix of members that have a lot of experience and ones that are just starting out. Everyone is great and willing to help out. Think about it I gave you our web site.

If you only want one mh, then 2'x2' is your max as that is all a mh covers. If you bought a luminarc reflector then you could handle 3'x3'. So if you have a place to get a custom tank built, 36x36x24, or 30x30x24 would be sweet.

Yeah I'am looking at a red sea max now, Looks like a good set up. I like that it is all self contained.

Just not sure I want to put a tank back in the wall :eek1:
