I had to leave my home for a couple days and when i got back my bubble had moved to the exact opposite side of the tank. Did all my water stuff and every thing was good, added chemicals at normal amount, moved the coral away from him, then went to work. Came back from work and now it looks like something ate a big chunk off of him. There is crapp hangen of of him and he just genrally looks like crap. I moved him into an open area and turned off the pumps to watch him. she still actually moves a little but his tentacles are elongated but deflated. I got him 2 weeks ago and they guy at the shop said he was splitting. I thought it was just some waste deep bs to sell the thing but is this what happens when thy split? It doesn't look good, not to mention my fox face keeps hitting at it. Can any help please

Could it have been a powerhead? If it is another inhabitant, then you will want to remove the culprit before it finishes your anemone off. Even if the foxface wasn't the original perpetrator, you should protect the anemone from it now. BTA's can take alot of damage and return to good health if: 1, they are in good health before the accident/damage; and 2, the aquarium is in good shape in terms of conditions.

i had one get into the power head before but it stayed stuck to the power head and it made a nasty nasty mess. This one was where he had moved to just over 7 hours went from fine to this.
there is nothing in the tank living that is capable of the mass damage is it possible he split and the other part is hiding really good?

and this is my way of detaining him for now. there is plenty of flow through it and it doesn't seem to be dimming the light any inside. Should that be ok?

Wow, I am certain that it is not in the process of splitting. I can see holes in the tips of the tentacles. Your lighting looks about right, is there any animals in the tank that could have taken a nip at the GBTA? All the water parameters are good? They are just about as picky with parameters as SPS, sometimes even more so.

My guess is that he was floating around for a good spot to call home and he got sucked in the powerhead. They can regenerate really well and I think that if you can find a nice rock for him to attach too, it can stage a full recovery. I have noticed that with BTA of that size, they like to plant their foot underneath the exposed portion of a rock, thus making a "J" like configuration.
well he died today. Got 1/2 refund on return(today was last eligible day for return. I got lucky) the store tested my water and the only thing that was wrong was ammonia. I believe that that would be from him degrading overnight be cause my tank did cloud a little since last night. So I don't know. I'm done with anemones. I only get them in hopes of my clowns hosting but i've gone through 3 diff. kinds with no luck. Sorry anemone lovers, just not my thing right now i guess. Thanx for all the advice. I save all my threads so i can use yalls help later if needed w/o bugging yall. Peace out

Ah man. I am sorry it died and I am sorry you have given up hope for having an anenome. All I can say is that the kind of environment that BTA likes is rocky like structures with lots of cracks that its foot can get into, lots of indirect flow and moderate lighting. If your water parameters where all good, then I think you should give it another shot later on. It is so fun to watch a clown fish love up on an anenome.
