My birds nest frag which I have had for 2 months just broke off its plug. I wedged it into a spot near where it had been. Do you think it will be okay?

You can either read glue it onto the frag plug or get a small piece of PVC pipe stick it in the sand and put your frag and that

Few things. If you are lighthearted please disregard and move on.

If you were to imagine how that frag arrived on that plug, what would be your first guess? It didn't just float around and say, you know this looks like a great spot to rest. It was glued. I'm sure if you did much needed due investigation before buying this frag, not only to keep it alive but how, and where to place in your tank I'm certain you would have stumbled across videos of how to frag where they would show superglue and many other forms of putty.

Also that frag is missing flesh. I'm not sure if it came that way from your LFS or happened under your watch, but it doesn't look good. Hopefully it springs back to a thriving colony.

I would strongly suggest reading through the many wonderful and informative posts on this forum before buying any more frags, and fish.

Birds nests do not encrust very well so there is not much point to re-glueing it to a plug. I had a frag for a few months that had broken off and I eventually I just stuck it in between some rocks and that thing grew to the size of a volleyball. Even after that long and as big as it was it never encrusted on anything.

Imperial,

I do my research and I read about how to care for my live stock. Your comment was simply not helpful or reassuring. If you think about it, you might realize I already tried to glue it.

Others,

The frag is glued to my live rock where I hope it will take and continue to grow. Thank you for the guidance.

Just an FYI, birds nest tend to not encrust. Mine is bigger than my fist, has been in my tank almost a year and has still not encrusted. I had similar experience with other birds nest in previous tanks.
