HELP! Coral Beauty dieing!

Reef Tank Junkie
Good morning

I added a coral beauty to my tank with my 2 clownfish. 24 hours after being in the tank he was eating well and swimming actively. I purchased from a private lfs who had it quarantined prior to my purchase and was healthy.

This morning I turned on the room light that the tank is in and noticed a huge cloud of sand scatter into the tank, my coral beauty swim to the surface, then fall quickly to the bottom, and not move. If I lift it up off the bottom it can swim for a bit then falls back down.

Clowns are still great, as are my urchin and inverts. All parameters are good and nothing has changed with the tank.

Could me turning on the lights quickly have causes a problem? Will he make it? I'm at work now and can't monitor him :(

I know these are considered somewhat a more delicate species to keep but it's just shocking how the health could change that much

One more thing, when I left for work, fish was still brightly colored and all fins were ok...no tears, spots, etc.

4 Weeks in a controlled qt tank. Ate food well, was active, great color, and no visible signs of illness.

Fish still looked exactly the same after 20 minutes from incident; just was at the bottom of the tank.

What percentage of dwarf angels in the hobby make it to the six month mark in captivity? 10? Less?

I can't keep them alive.

UPDATE: fish didn't make it :( got home and it had become an expensive meal for my invertebrates. Still had good color and looked normal while lieing on the bottom

I didn't know these dwarf angels were that hard to raise. I had read that they're hearty and relatively easy to have. These must be the electric blue jack dempsey's of the salt world.
