Help! Cracked 24g Nanocube

This morning I noticed water slowly dribbling down the front left corner of my Nanocube 24 right from under the plastic 'rim'. Upon further inspection, I noticed that there is a crack on the left side of the tank, descending bout 1/4 inch down from the top of the tank where it begins. It's about 2 inches long and arcs back to the top of the tank. However, it is still contained behind the top plastic rim that goes around the top of the nanocube glass. I lowered the water level in the tank about 3/4" for the time being to avoid additional leakage..

Should I be overly concerned even though it's still kind of 'reinforced' by the rim?

As it will take a few days to work out a solution (replacement cube, upgrade to a bigger tank), does anyone recommend using tank sealant/silicone to patch the crack for now??

When I do switch to either another 'cube or even a bigger tank, do you recommend I move over everything (Fish, LR, cleanup crew, coral) including the water and the live sand? Or should I move over part of the water and just get new sand? Any thoughts?

As I just dropped a bunch of $ on a nanocustoms hood (3.36 + 24W) for my 24DX, I feel like I should just replace the tank...Then again, there's the little guy in the red suit with horns sitting on my shoulder, telling me I should upgrade to a bigger tank...I need a voice of reason, what should I do?

With that in mind, does anyone have any recommendations on a nice reef ready setup that is not a 'cube or Aquapod?? Something a little bigger like 30 gal- 55 gal max...

In the meantime, I dropped the water level, dried off the cracked area and used a silicone aquarium sealant. I will wait a few days for it to fully cure and then raise the water level. Being that the crack is not really in much of a 'load bearing' area, I hope it will sustain until I can decide on what to replace the tank with... I'm looking to make that decision soon, so any thoughts or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Your tank is toast.

Go to nanotuners.com and buy yourself a new 2006 24G DX tank only for $100 if your heart is set on keeping the tank.

There are stories of catastrophic failures in these tanks. Do not use that tank anymore. Call JBJ (manufacturer) and tell them you want a new tank too.

Kevitz is right. Tank is history. Demand new tank from manufacturer. They should provide you with a replacement. This one reason why you should try to find local rather than chancing damage during shipping.
